in theory: the drinks taste good, i tell the truth about myself. i mind my business and respect the he/him DJ community. i’m here for booze and playlists.

in practice: the night out never compares to the joy of getting ready or debriefing the next morning. taking photos of your friend’s unplugged straightener so she doesn’t freak out in the uber. asking “wait…can i borrow some??” as if i - amateur chemist - am going to siphon the borrowed lipgloss back into its unforgiving tube. to the next morning’s panel interview questions all amounting to one final - what is my [read: our] problem? incredible every time.
